The following websites will help you determine what your interests are and the types of careers that may appeal to you.  You will also find information about training and education needed for specific jobs, anticipated earnings and job prospects, and what workers actually do on the job. 

  • TCIDS Career Database:  A database of careers that can be searched or browsed alphabetically.  Includes a career interests questionnaire.  Created by the Tennessee Career Information.
  • CareerZone:  A career exploration website where students can develop a career plan based on interests and abilities.  Created by the New York State Department of Labor.
  • What Can I Do With a Major In......:  A database that offers students a broad view of potential careers based on college majors including related career titles, related skills, and related websites for each college major.  Created by the University of North Carolina Wilmington.
  • CareerOverview:  A non-commercial website designed for students and graduates containing reliable and up-to-date career planning and job information. 
  • Occupational Outlook Handbook:  An extensive database of hundreds of jobs.  Articles cover training and education, anticipated earnings and job prospects, on-the-job details and working conditions.  Site also covers the job market in each state.  Created by the US Department of Labor, Bureau of Labor Statistics.
  • Students.gov:  Career Development:  An official US Government database designed for students and their families which covers internships, student jobs, graduate fellowships, job search information, and  includes links to 63 career exploration websites.  Created under the guidance of the US Department of Education.
